About the branch

The Merseyside Branch strives to support the objectives of the Institution, and to promote improvements in occupational safety and health. The branch has approximately 1200 members, including all grades of membership, and serves an area covering Merseyside, North Wales and Cheshire. The branch is well established, and several of its founder members continue to be actively involved in serving the branch and supporting its activities.

Executive Committee

Merseyside Branch affairs are managed by an executive committee of up to 18 branch members. The four principal roles are Chair Person, Vice Chair Person, Secretary, and Treasurer. Other roles on the committee include Past Chair Person, Member of Council, Specialist Group representatives, Education Liaison Officer, and Website Co-ordinator. The committee maintains communication with the branch membership, oversees branch finances, and provides representatives to Specialist Groups and IOSH national events.

Branch events

The Merseyside Branch runs an annual programme of branch events from September through to June, and branch meetings usually take place on the first Tuesday of each month at The Village Hotel, Bromborough, Wirral. The meetings are normally well attended, providing a good forum for networking and helping members with their ongoing continuing professional development (CPD). A branch programme is sent to all members, and guests are welcome to attend meetings. Minutes of the meetings and details of presentations are posted on this website.

Specialist Groups

Specialist Groups provide a forum for members of the Institution sharing an interest in a particular area of specialisation. Active Specialist Groups allow members the opportunity to exchange opinions on professional developments, innovations, ideas and experiences. Regularly organised events range from conferences and workshops to site visits. Members are entitled to be a member of one group but can become a member of other groups by paying extra subscriptions. Many branch members are registered to one or more of the Specialist Groups within IOSH, and the branch sends representatives several Specialist Group national committees.
