Acceptance of previous meeting minutes as a true & accurate record
Chairman proposed the minutes of the previous meeting reminding members that they are posted on the branch website. The minutes were agreed by Dave Whitfied and seconded by Peter Williams.
Chairman's update:
4.1 The chairman stated that the branch programme had been sent to members and was available on the branch website. The chairman stated that spare copies will be available at the next meeting and those who had not received a copy were advise to contact IOSH Leicester to check personal details.
4.2 Items of interest
Lynn Griffiths a volunteer of CO-Awareness is enlisting support for Carbon Monoxide (CO)-awareness week 2008 which is to take place starting Monday 17th November 2008 launched by the House of Lords. CO-Awareness week venue of Liverpool will be Friday 21st November at the Council Chambers.
4.3 Items of interest
Nick Wilson of Weightmans Solicitors has suggested that they run a Coroners Court Workshop in October or November 2008 at Hatton Gardens. The workshop will be approximately £80.00 per person. A show of hands at the IOSH branch meeting suggested that approximately 15-20 people would be interested in attending.
An action has been raised for the IOSH Merseyside Branch to publish the event in the IOSH newsletter.
Secretary's correspondence & update
5.1 Grad IOSH members are invited to an initial Professional Development Workshop at Regus offices, Chester Business Park to discuss personal IPD schemes and solve any confusion. The event to take place on Wednesday 08th October 2008. Those interested are required to contact Pauline Bradshaw on cpd@iosh.co.uk and specify which session they would like to attend either 9.30am, 11.00am, 1.00pm, or 3.00pm. The sessions will be group sessions not one-to-one and will be of approximately one hour duration.
5.2 The next branch IOSH meeting will be a joint meeting with ICE at Liverpool John Moores
University on the 13th October 2008. The presentation will be Corporate Manslaughter presented by Eric Burt of Cheshire County Council and will start at 6.00pm. Members were reminded that there is currently no parking facility at the University.
5.3 The Environmental and waste management group has organised a networking event in
Liverpool on the 02nd October at 09.15hrs entitled Sustainability – improving your environmental performance. The event is to be held at the Princes Suite 3, Crowne Plaza Hotel, St Nicholas Place, Pier Head, Liverpool L3 1QW.
5.4 A conference on Sports and Brain Injury is to be delivered on Thursday 19th February
2009, 08.45 to 16.30 at the Faculty of Health, Edge Hill University, Ormskirk, Lancashire, L39 4QP. The conference has been postponed from May 2008. The cost will be £100.00 (£75.00 if register prior 20th December 2008) per person.
5.5 Members were advised that the branch would have laptops available at meetings to
assist those struggling with the MIOSH online CPD.

The presentation commenced with detailing the North West Ambulance service area coverage. This proceeded to explain why and what services are required within the region, what and when first aid training is to be given and what and why information the emergency services need when 999 is called.

Members Interest
Dave Whitfield detailed Personal Health information ‘dog tags’ that had been shown at the Health and Safety Expo in Birmingham. The retail price for the ‘dog tags’ is £19.99. Dave Whitfield invited those showing an interest to view a demonstration at the end of the meeting on a laptop.
The Chairman called the meeting to a close.
